Recap

Hello blog friends, long time no talk post. Thanks to everyone for commenting and encouraging to keep up the posts! I do appreciate all of the feedback! ūüôā This post is two in one. I will recap our trip to NY and do a six month stat on M.

NY Trip

If you remember in my post about traveling with a baby, I was nervous, anxious and scared to travel with Mikayla. I think every parent probably envisions the worst possible scenario in their mind.¬†I guess the up side to that is you are prepared if the worst does happen. We had a direct flight from Charleston to La¬†Guardia and it was about 2 hours. Our flight left at 6:00am. We got Mikayla in her car seat at 4:45 and headed to the airport. She was awake but not cranky or hungry (yesssss). We managed to make it to the gate problem free and fed her first bottle of the day at the gate. Once on the plane she was such a ham and loving all the attention! ¬†Just as we started to taxi she was ready to go back to sleep and was a tad cranky. It is very hard to get her comfortable in such an awkward upright position! She fussed for about 10 minutes then slept for about 45 min. Overall, not bad! The trip home wasn’t as good BUT there were TONS of infants on the plane! I have never seen so many kids on a plane before. Needless to say, at least one child was crying the majority of the time so she fit right in when she got cranky :-). Overall, I would say she was a champ!

The trip was long and involved too much driving! My parents are two hours from Rob’s parents so we split our time. After driving to see everyone (parents, grandparents, friends, etc.)¬†we were exhausted by the end of the trip and were so happy to be home! Mikayla had a blast meeting all of her aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

Six Month Stats

This is long overdue! Mikayla will be seven months on the 29th! I can’t believe how fast she is growing! She is now crawling and its amazing to watch her crawl everywhere and see how excited she gets just roaming around.

Weight: 19 lbs.  Height: 27 1/4″ 91st percentile for both

Size:  3 diapers.  Size 9 month in clothes, some 9-12 month.

Eats: She eats stage 2 food three times a day and has 4 bottles at 6-7 oz each. She is starting to pick up food from her tray such as, puffs and cut up fruit.

Sleep:  About the same schedule as five month stats. Bed around 7-7:30 and up between 5-5:30.

Favorite and least favorite food: Still hates peas! Seems to enjoy everything else.

Milestones: Lots of milestones since five month stats! Sitting up, rolling over, talking, and now crawling! I hope to post a video of this soon!

Looking Ahead: Very curious to see what month 7 will bring! I am sure she will be crawling all over and getting into much more than she does now!

Thanks for hanging in there and being patient with me. I will post some fun topics in the near future. I have baking recipes and house updates to share so stay tuned!

Packing List

The time has arrived! I need to start packing this week for our trip up to New York. We will be gone for 8 nights, 9 days so I needed a list to help me organize the giant suitcase that will be needed. Luckily my sister-in-law just moved to the next car seat size and we can borrow her old one. Yippee! I don’t need to bring the car seat or the base. One less thing to take up space! My friend is letting us borrow her high chair, pack-n-play, bottle warmer and some toys. So far, here is my list:

Large Suitcase:

         Mikayla

  • 8 pairs of
    • Onesies, pants/shorts
  • PJ‚Äôs
  • 3-4 dresses/skirts
  • Washcloths/towels
  • Socks, headbands, pool hat
  • Zip up sweatshirt
  • 1-2¬†blankets (this is questionable since my parents have plenty of blankets)
  • Burp cloths, bibs
  • Pack ‚Äď n ‚Äď play sheet, cushion pad
  • A couple of toys
  • Some diapers
  • Zantac
  • Bottles, spoons, bowls
  • Formula, food, oatmeal
  • Monitor

         Me

  • Clothes for 8 days
    • Tops, sweatshirt, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of capris,¬† 2-3 pairs of shorts, dress
  • Jewelry
  • Workout clothes, sports bra, socks, sneakers
  • Hair dryer, hair straightener, brush
  • Toiletries
    • Face wash, moisturizer, eye makeup remover
    • Make up, deodorant, perfume, hair clips
    • Razor
  • Birth control pills ( an absolute MUST), allergy pills
  • Shoes, flip flops
  • Purse in checked luggage (except for wallet)
  • Camera, camera charger, phone charger

Carry ‚Äď ons:

       Small Luggage

  • Change of clothes for Me, M and Rob
  • Extra diapers
  • Blanket
  • Baby Bjorn
  • Book, Zoom

        Diaper Bag

  • M‚Äôs birth certificate and social security card
  • Wipes, diapers
  • Toys, teething ring
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Diaper rash cream, travel size shampoo, lotion, etc
  • Burp cloths/bibs

  • Boogie wipes, tissues, saline

Whoa…sounds like a lot! Has anyone traveled with a baby before? Have I missed anything? Is there something I probably don’t need that I can scratch from the list?

Baby On A Plane

Waiting in line to board, finally get on the plane but have to deal with the long ass line of slow people taking their sweet ass time to put their belongings in the overhead bin, finally squeeze into the seat by the window, look up and there it is…..a Mom walking down the aisle¬†headed toward my seat wearing a baby Bjorn¬†containing a drooling, crying, spitting baby! AHHHH a baby on a plane is the worst! Yes, I will admit, those were my thoughts as I am sure everyone experiences this agony at least once in their life.

The irony of it all is that this will be ME¬†next weekend!!! I have a new-found respect for parents that travel with kids. You better believe that no one on that plane feels more agony than the parents who are trying their best not to disturb the other passengers. When we first booked our trip I worried about what other people will be thinking the second we step onto that plane with her. But you know what…I don’t give a F$#@! LOL. And to be honest, how can anyone not smile at this:

Have you ever traveled with a baby or toddler? How did it go? Did you have anyone rudely ask you to “keep it down”? I will be doing a post next week about what I will be packing for M!

Nominated For A Versatile Blogger Award!

I am so excited that my friend Meghan over at Ratnam Residence, has nominated my blog for the Versatile Blogger Award (VBA)! Here are the VBA rules, courtesy of the VBA Blog:

  • Thank the person who gave you this award. That‚Äôs common courtesy.
  • ¬†Include a link to their blog. That‚Äôs also common courtesy ‚ÄĒ if you can figure out how to do it.
  • ¬†Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you‚Äôve recently discovered or follow regularly. (I don’t know 15 blogs so my list is a bit smaller)
  • ¬†Nominate those 15 (or how many you have) bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award ‚ÄĒ you might include a link to this site.
  • ¬†Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

A BIG thanks to Ratnam Residence for the nomination! I have enjoyed reading all about Meghan’s life in Boston! She has a great blog so be sure to check it out! Next, things about myself:

Seven Things:

  1. I HATE watching people brush their teeth! I know, very random. I can’t stand the site of saliva and seeing it makes me gag.
  2. Before I had Mikayla I wanted 3-4 kids, now I think 2 will do just fine!
  3. I have never broken a bone (knock on wood)! I played volleyball in HS and was (still am) very clumsy so I am shocked that I haven’t!
  4. I am OBSESSED with 90’s music. I love the 90’s station on pandora!
  5. My dream trip is to Bora Bora and Fiji. I love to travel to tropical places and this is a dream of mine.
  6. I am terrified of spiders. Yes, I hate all bugs but spiders are the worst! Since moving South we can now add cockroaches to the list! EWWW.
  7. I have the best poker face. I like to play practical jokes on people, especially in my office and I am the best at hiding them! No one ever knows it was me ūüėČ
Below are links to some great blogs I follow and have nominated for the VBA!

Hope you enjoy all of these blogs as much as I have!
